Coaching Philosophy
SPORT SPECIFIC FITNESS TRAINING
At the centre of Claire's coaching philosophy is the belief that a fitness program should be individualized to meet the needs of each athlete while also being enjoyable, sustainable.
A good training program should be built around the individual’s goals, experience, schedule, abilities, and needs. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, each program is designed to meet the athlete where they are and progress with them over time.
The goal is not simply to complete workouts. It is to help skaters build a strong and positive relationship with fitness that will support their on-ice training programs to maximize competitive performance.
A PERSON-FIRST APPROACH
Every athlete brings different experiences, goals, challenges, and priorities to their training.
Claire's coaching focuses on understanding the person behind the program and creating training that works within their real life structure.
Individualized programming. After consulting with the skater's base coach, training is designed to meet the athlete's goals, experience, equipment, schedule, and needs.
Consistency over perfection. Progress comes from systems of accountability, sustainable habits and realistic training.
Progress with purpose. Training should have a reason behind it, with clear goals and measurable, appropriate progression.
Confidence through movement. Athletes should leave training feeling more capable, confident, and connected to what their body can do.
